Vol. 56 No. 24
Rotary Newsletter April 29, 2021
Dr. Nick Petrulis’ grandfather, Dr. Albert Petrulis, had an affinity for helping people. An oral surgeon, Dr. Albert Petrulis  often offered his services to those in need at no charge.
As Nick gave his new member classification talk to the Waunakee Rotary Club April 22, he said his grandfather inspired him to help others as he decided to become a chiropractor.
Nick practices at LSM Chiropractic’s Waunakee location. He and his wife, Alaria, a family advocate with Reach Dane and a postpartum doula, have been married since 2015. The two enjoy traveling, and Nick enjoys the outdoors.
Nick was born in Riverside, a suburb close to Chicago, and moved to Baraboo in 1997 near Circus World on the Christmas Tree farm his grandparents owned.
He met Alaria in college at UW-Stevens Point and afterwards went to Northwestern Health Science University to study for his chiropractic degree. While in school, he learned of an open position at LSM and did his preceptorship there. LSM Health was founded in 1954 and has grown to 17 locations. Its mission is to serve and not be served.
“We always put patients first,” Nick said. The clinics offer same-day appointments and 24-hour care.
Nick talked about different treatment methods and shared photographs of chiropractic care over the Zoom meeting.
He joined Rotary to get to know others in the Waunakee community, to help out, and to give back, he said. He is also a member of the Waunakee Area Chamber of Commerce.
Alaria and Nick’s dog Tripp has also suffered back pain with two herniated discs, and Nick described the amazing veterinary surgeon at UW-Health who performed surgery and their efforts to keep Tripp active and healthy.

Other news:
-Volunteers helped out at the Whitetails dinner earlier in the week.
-The club is working on offering hybrid meetings – in person at Rex’s and virtual – sometime in the future.
-World Immunization Week is April 24-30, and Rotary is encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine, president Tom Kennedy said. He noted that two polio vaccination workers were killed in Afghanistan. Eradicating polio in some places of the world is difficult, and Tom said the anti-vaxxer beliefs are not limited to the United States.
-The club will help out at a number of upcoming events, including WaunaFest. Jim Kattner said Pepsi is not providing its truck and the cooler supply is limited. But the event will be complete with the parade. Other upcoming events are Tri 4 Schools May 15, National Night Out in August and Make Music Day on June 21. Hometown Pharmacy is planning a band for Make Music Day, and the club will sell Little Caesar’s pizzas and other snacks.
-Tom also updated the club about the District 6250 conference, with Zoom presentations continuing through the week.
