Waunakee Rotary Club
October 11, 2018
Vol. 53 No. 18
Waunakee Rotary Newsletter Oct. 11, 2018
The Waunakee Rotary Club has a decent cash flow. That was the upshot of Treasurer Jim Kattner’s report to the club at the Oct. 11 meeting.
Members also held club assembly, with committee chairs reporting on their projects.
For fellowship, Ray Statz reminded the club that the Rotary Rustic Road Race is this Sunday, Oct. 14. There’s plenty of room for more to sign up. It will leave at noon from Trappers Turn parking lot, and you can have brunch beforehand there at 10:30 a.m. The route is laid out and includes a stop at a Frank Lloyd Wright lake house.
Bob Klostermann said impromptu fellowship opportunities will take place at Rex’s Innkeeper to watch Brewers’ playoff games.
From the international committee, Linda Olson said World Polio day is Oct. 24 to spread awareness. Food for Kidz is Oct. 21, Mick Holm reminded the club. Trips are planned to Haiti in January. Many of the meals will go to an orphanage there. Another group of Waunakee folks will travel to Kenya in January where the club has supported a school. Linda added that the One Rotary Summit is coming up and members are encouraged to attend. The Waunakee club is looked upon for ideas by other clubs, and it’s important to share those successful ideas.
The membership committee is targeting new members, Bob Pulvermacher said. Be sure to encourage people to join. If you bring a stay-at-home mom or dad next week, that person’s meal is free.
Dan Statz reported for fundraising, saying this year’s Wauktoberfest was the second best in terms of dollars raised.
Rotary Lights in on its way with sales for the brochure. The club will be looking for people to man the booth in early November.

Other news:
–David Weishoff gave his 90 seconds of fame as the greeter. He will be 40 soon, and he and his wife have two young children and two dogs. He loves to camp and fish, and is the owner of David’s Certified Auto Repair.
–Rotarians have one more chance to bring gift cards for the XLH fundraiser.
–In addition to the Rotary Rustic Road Race on Sunday, the Waunakee Fire Department will host its annual Pancake Breakfast.
–Rotary Walk Fall Cleanup will also take place at the Village Center Pond from 9-11 a.m. Saturday. The Bruce Company has installed the aeration system at the pond, Ken Pesik said, and an electrician will wire the system. The club will receive an invoice from the Bruce company, at which time, any club members who want to donate toward the cost can do so.
–Schumacher Farm Park’s Halloween at the Farm is Oct. 27. Rotarians had a spooky station in the prairie last year. Is there an interest in doing this again? Phil Willems will need help with the popcorn machine there, as well.
–On Nov. 7, the club will serve dinner for the EMS.
–The Thanksgiving Breakfast is Nov. 17 at the Senior Center.
