The Waunakee Rotary Club’s 50th year celebration has been moved to June 28, and will coincide with the club’s annual steak fry, when the new board members take office and we applaud the outgoing board members for their work.
The anniversary party will be at Rex’s Innkeeper, since that’s where the club has met the past 45 years.
Many members signed up for the Feb. 9 event at the Waunakee Public Library, but that’s been rebranded as a New Year’s Party, Bob Klostermann announced during the Jan. 26 meeting’s club assembly.
It was one of many reports committee members gave about the work they’re doing.
The following are the other reports:
Jim Kattner announced that the Rotary Coloring Contests winners have been chosen and will be notified. Also, the lights from the display are all put away.
Speaking of lights, the solar light project is expected to be completed by the end of March, Alex Welk announced.
Speakers have been scheduled through mid May, but there are a few openings. Kylee West invited club members to let her know if you have ideas for speakers.
The vocational committee will begin seeing scholarship applications come in. The deadline for high school seniors to apply is March 9. Also, they’ll be working on getting nominations from members for the Business of Year Award, Bob Arntz said. Voting will be online again.
The club is also waiting to hear about the Rotary Youth Exchange student, along with applications for the Rotary Youth Leadership Academy. The World Affairs Seminar is all set.
