Waunakee Rotary Newsletter March 3, 2022
One day, Max Ujdak may just save your life.
One of the newest Waunakee Rotary Club members, Max gave his classification talk at the March 3 meeting, offering an insight into the supply chain issues in the United States and his background.
Max grew up in South Bend, Indiana, home of Notre Dame University, where he attended and met his wife-to-be, a Wisconsin native, in marching band.
They had their wedding at Notre Dame, and then ended up in Waukesha before coming to Madison and eventually Waunakee.
Max is an account manager with Price Engineering, where he makes motion work for his client companies. His wife is attending law school part time at UW-Madison, and because she is gone most evenings, Matt joined the Waunakee Fire Department. The department has had 65 calls since he joined, and Max has been on 60 of them.
Price Engineering is known for its hydraulics, and Max is part of automation, making sure motion works for his company clients’ industrial processes.
When he joined Price engineering in 2019, tariffs were an issue. Today, supply chain shortages, caused in part by the COVID-19 pandemic, are having an effect on computer chips, mainly. Demand for those skyrocketed especially at the onset of the pandemic.
Max explained that East Asian imports go through Long Beach and Los Angeles, California, ports, where ships can sit for five days. In addition, illness among dockworkers affected the situation, and traffic has increased. Shipping times have doubled, and costs have more than doubled.
Max told the club about an upcoming blood drive April 2 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
