Vol. 59 No. 11
Waunakee Rotary Club Newsletter March 20, 2025

The Waunakee Rotary Club learned a little more about Leah Abeyta, one of the newer members, at the March 20 meeting. Leah has already stepped up to help organize the Drive-Thru Easter event, so she was also awarded Hero status by club President Phil Willems.

Leah works at Associated Bank. She is married, and the couple's first children were their two dogs. On Nov. 11, 2022, their first baby, a daughter, was born. Sophie loves getting outside and her favorite place to go is the playground. Leah’s family is growing as baby No. 2 is now on its way.

Leah began her career as a manager at Walmart and Kwik Trip, but she said the hours got to her. She is also a newly licensed insurance agent and a new Chamber Ambassador.

Asked where she grew up, Leah said she and her family lived in Janesville until the GM plant, where her father worked, closed and they relocated to a small town outside of Detroit.

She later joined the Army National Guard, and worked as a diesel mechanic. That brought her back to Wisconsin, where she met her husband.

Associated Bank will soon have a display of Rotary letting people know of the work the club does, Leah said.
