Waunakee Rotary Club members learned about each of the committee’s work during the May 30 Club Assembly. The committee chairs gave the following reports:

The fundraising committee is looking ahead at WaunaFest as the next fundraiser. Also, though they’re not fundraisers, the club should mark their calendars for the July 10 Senior Picnic and the Aug. 7 National Night Out.

The international committee is looking forward to hearing from Janette Jordee about how the project went in the Philippines, Mick Holm said. She will present at a future meeting, but the project was successful. Other projects and grants include Books for the World in Guatemala. Don’t forget to donate the $100 to the Rotary Foundation for the fiscal year if you have not already.

For meetings, programs are booked into August, but Kylie West said if you have ideas, please share them with her so she can work on getting those programs booked.

The membership committee now has a few new members with red badges close to obtaining the more seasoned blue badges. They are encouraged to attend the next board of directors meeting. That committee will begin to work on recruitment next, Jim Elvekrog said.

Community service has two outstanding projects from the village clean-up, including staining the kiosk and installing lighting. Ken Pesik said the hope is for dryer weather to get that staining done. Max Ujdek is working on designing the framework for the arch over the village park entrance. The committee is looking for recommendations for contractors to can install a very large concrete base.

The fellowship committee is looking at scheduling the boat outing for the first Tuesday in August, from around 6-8 p.m. Other outings will be at local concerts at Village Park on Tuesdays and some Thursdays when the Waunakee Community Band plays. Also, June 5 is the steak fry at Drumlin Ridge, Bob Klostermann said.

The youth committee has invited the scholarship recipients to introduce themselves at next week’s meeting. Brisa will also talk about her experiences throughout the year as the exchange student. She returns to Mexico July 22. Participants at RYLA will also present.
