The Waunakee Rotary Club’s 2025 scholarship recipients and their families joined the club for lunch at the June 5 meeting.
Jeremiah Alfred, Isabelle Mack and Sofia Nelson all expressed their thanks for the scholarship and introduced their families.
Jeremiah will attend UW-Madison this fall and spend the semester abroad in London.
Isabella will attend the University of Louisville and plans to major in social work. She chose that university because it offers a 5-year master’s program in social work, which she hopes to complete.
Sofia plans to study business at UW-Madison.
President Phil Willems also reported on the club’s board of directors meeting and the donations the board approved. They are as follows:
-$250 to the Waunakee Police Department for National Night Out. The club will have two displays there — the K-9 transport vehicle it raised funds for and the Shelter Box, the tent it purchased for those in crisis.
-$500 for Easter Seals.
-$1,000 for Ada’s Spark, a nonprofit that benefits cancer research.
-$1,000 for the Waunakee High School orchestra trip to Scotland.

-Also, let Mark McFarland know if you plan to go to the going away party for Fran and Carmella.
-On July 3, a pontoon boat ride is planned for the group traveling from New Zealand on a Rotary Exchange, John Cullen said.
-Jennifer Tasker encouraged members to follow the club on its new Facebook page and to invite friends to follow.
