With no speaker or microphone, Rotary President Elect Jennifer Tasker led the Aug. 18 meeting, allowing members to provide updates.
One project underway is the reengagement of a youth exchange effort for the club, as Lori Derauf of the youth and vocational committee spoke about. Carol Bleifield has agreed to be the Youth Exchange Officer, and will complete all necessary paperwork, and Kevin McDaniel will be the Youth Exchange Counselor. Lori said having a man and woman serve in these roles is best as it allows the student to relate to whichever they feel more comfortable with.
Randy Guttenberg will serve as the youth protection officer, ensuring that background checks are done for all involved. The club will submit the application for the student and then around February learn where the student is coming from.
Anyone interested in hosting the student can let Lori, Carol, Kevin or Bob Arntz know.
Jennifer said the board of directors has been talking about club committees. Most members are on a committee, but if you’re not, let the board know which one you’d like to serve on. If you don’t, someone on the board will contact you.

-Wauktoberfest is opening a day earlier this year, on Thursday, Sept. 15, at the same time as the wine tasting, Ken Ballweg said. He has tickets you can give to friends and coworkers. Just put your name on the back and you’ll be billed for whatever they spend them on.
Ken Pesik said six German beers have been ordered for the taps. Guest brewers will be Lone Girl and Karben 4.
-Club members are planning to watch Saturday’s WaunBoom fireworks from the Meadows of Sixmile Creek club house and all are invited.
-Club members can also gather at Bishops Bay Golf Course Sept. 6, the Tuesday evening after Labor DAy.
