The incoming president, Joe Baer, with Jennifer Tasker and outgoing president Ross Mauer, show a nearly $20,000 check to present for the Ukraine effort at the June 29 Waunakee Rotary Steak Fry.
Rotary President Ross Mauer convened his last meeting of his term June 30 after the annual changing of the guard at the steak fry the night before.
The club met for club assembly, but first heard from the two students who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Conference or RYLA. The club had sponsored Portia Grade and Lexi Lingord to attend the one-day retreat. They said they did multiple activities developing team work and team bonding that opened their eyes to how they could make a difference in their own communities.
A few of the committees reported to the club about their current projects. Speaking of fellowship, Bob Klostermann reminded members of the Betty Lou cruise in August. The Tuesday music in the park events also offer members an opportunity to gather informally, as well, he said.
The membership committee is talking about doing more marketing and using social media.

-Carol Bleifield reported that her friend in Poland has raised enough money for an ambulance in Ukraine, but her friend is now in the hospital as a result of chemical poisoning during a trip to Ukraine. Carol thanked everyone for donating.
-Ross reported that the Rotary Board approved a $1,000 donation to the Wisconsin Youth Symphony capital campaign.
-Jim Elvekrog introduced Dr. Bret Toftness, a chiropractor in town.
-Phil Willems reminded the club that the Senior Picnic is July 13 at Centennial park.
