Steve Kreuger comes from the small town of Wonewoc, Wisconsin, where he grew up attending St. Paul’s Lutheran School, which had just 5 classrooms.
At the Nov. 5 meeting, Waunakee Rotarians got to know Steve, a financial advisor with Summit Credit in Waunakee and one of the club’s newer members, as he gave his classification talk.
Paul said he had a normal childhood, riding his bike and playing basketball with friends during the day. He also was on the high school football team and wrestled to stay in shape during the off season where he attained a 6-11 record. He joked that he gets snubbed each year when the Wonewoc Hall of Fame inductees are announced.
After high school, Steve attended UW-Whitwater then Madison Area Technical College. He worked in Wisconsin Dells in the 1990s during the Beanie Baby craze. He also worked at Avis Rental where he learned patience.
Folks showing up for their rental cars aren’t in the best mood after dealing with the airlines, he said.
Steve later worked at CUNA Mutual and worked in the investor guidance center. He also worked at the annuity sales desk helping with independent retirement planning before joining Summit Credit Union.
He got to know Pat Durden after Pat retired and his clients were referred to Steve. Pat suggested Steve join Rotary, and Steve said he’s looking forward to getting to know his fellow members.
Steve and his wife, Adrian, live on the west side of Sun Prairie and spend much of their time with their nieces and nephews.
