Waunakee Rotarians met in committee for club assembly at their Sept. 26 meeting before committee chairs reported on the projects they’re working on.

With Wauktoberfest under their belts, the fundraising committee is now looking ahead at Halloween at the Farm, the annual Schumacher Farm event where Rotary serves concessions, and then Rotary in Lights at Village Park.

Membership is discussing ways to spend time with newer members, explaining what Rotary does and the expectations, along with their role as Rotarians.

The community service committee is also planning for Rotary Lights, and serious set-up at Village Park will get underway after Girls on the Run Nov. 9. Look for sign-up sheets for other Rotary in Lights work days coming up.

Ken Pesik reported on the arch project the club is working on at the Village Park entrance. They are collecting historical pieces to go on top of the arch, and once those are gathered, the architect will need about a month to design the arch, and the club will then review it. Final approval could come in December or January with the project anticipated for the spring.

The international committee is gearing up for Food for Kidz. Volunteers are needed to sign up for the third shift that day. And, the grant cycle for district grants is next spring. If you have a project that qualifies, talk to Linda Olson. Linda noted that the district has an action-packed itinerary planned for the Croatian visitors coming in October.

Bob Arntz said the youth and vocational committee is still looking for host families for Fran Alvarez, the exchange student from Argentina. Also, if you know of any students interested in an outbound exchange, let Bob or Carl Bleifield know.

The fellowship committee is planning a golf tournament. Carol is also setting up a watch party for Fran’s next Warrior varsity soccer game. Another event on the horizon is the Pizza Hut party at Bishops Bay, Bob Klostermann said. The committee is also discussing locations for the next Christmas party in January. And there are plans for a bowling outing at Waun-A-Bowl for members and their families. If anyone has any other ideas for fellowship, let Bob know.
