You might want to refer to Jennifer Tasker as “Madam President Elect” from now on. Slated to take over as president of the Waunakee Rotary Club in June 2023, Jennifer just returned from Nairobi where she attended a Rotary Club meeting. She shared some of her takeaways from the meeting with the club at the Sept. 29 meeting.

Addressing the president as “Madam President” is the custom there, she said, adding she wouldn’t mind being referred to that way.

Some other differences there are the number of ways members are fined and the things they’re fined for.

That club also writes more international grants, she said.

Also at the Sept. 29 meeting, committee members reported on their projects for club assembly. The reports were as follows:

- Youth and vocational has changed the scholarships, now offering two for $3,000. The applications were just sent to the high schools. We will have a youth exchange in 2023, and the committee is meeting with school counselors and the Pay it Forward Club about opportunities for students.

-Fundraising is working on the Rotary lights brochure and a piece will be included about what Rotary does in hopes of boosting membership.

-Community service is working on the dog park. And the club is getting ready to install the Rotary lights at the park.

-Bob Klostermann announced two opportunities to hear music at local establishments that evening, and noted that next week, if the Brewers are playing, club members could head to a game. Also, he will look into the possibility of going to Milwaukee in December for the Christmas market there.

-For public relations and speakers, we have meetings booked through December. Next week, Randy Guttenberg will give a school update. Another update in a couple weeks will focus on Waunakee’s pool referendum.
