The Waunakee Rotary board of directors is asking club members what projects they would like the WaunaFest raffle proceeds go towards. If you have ideas, let them know. People are needed to help sell the tickets, too, as last year, the raffle barely broke even. That prompted the meetings and public relations committee to call for an end to the raffle.

At the March 30 meeting, Waunakee Rotarians heard from the different committee chairs, as they provided updates for club assembly on their projects and activities.

The meetings and public relations committee has speakers booked out through July. Next week’s program on Putin’s Russia sounds intriguing.

The youth and vocational committee is seeking students interested in participating in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards or RYLA. Also, the committee received 11 scholarship applications and will narrow them down to the four winners, Bob Arntz said in his update.

The international committee members are attending a grant management seminar, Linda Olson said.

Fundraising is looking forward to festival season, including WaunaFest and Wauktoberfest, Phil Willems said. They’re also considering selling light snacks at the Wauktoberfest beer tent. Also, the Rotary Lights display will be improved and expanded with a new palm trees and camel display. Phil encouraged members to drive through the Dane County Airport during its light display happening now.

Ken Pesik reported that his committee is working to put together light poles at the dog park. Ray Statz said they were working to prepare for them, and the lights should be installed soon.
